day 6 chem 2 A phonecall from Ireland

Irish woman cookingDay 6 was a funny day as everyone was finding out about Poor Peters death and sending me lots of messages to say how they would miss the great man and yet I wasn’t sad for him any more. It was a weird thing, as I had cried many tears when he emailed me saying he knew he knew the end was near as the pain was so bad and they couldn’t get it under control, but that was 2 weeks ago now and I just feel the fight is over and he is at peace.

So I will fight on for Peter as I know he is still behind me bless him.

I sent a donation to the MHF’s McMillian Charity collection, as I cant go to Hull for his funeral I don’t feel like traveling so far at the moment, so I told ray I wanted to put the money  I would have paid out for flowers and travel expences into the charity and of coarse Ray agreed.

We carried on with the day and I pottered as always dusting and cleaning, but said I cant Vacuum can you, Ray was pleased to help.

He is resigned to letting me go as far as I can, I do it for the exercise really or I get fidgety.

I was in the loo sick then and we have worked out that it is a sign I have done enough.

Washing on the line in the lovely sunshine, we just relaxed around until after lunch, of Cheese and Toast, I said it would be nice to do the beach round walk.

We set off but it was so cold in the wind that I had to give in, and say I cant do it, and just walked a small round walk in Seasalter, around an estate here.

Came back  and was then sick which I think was because of the cold wind we had encountered.

I was in the bathroom when the phone rang and Ray said its Catherine all the way from Ireland.

Well what a pleasant surprise.

We chatted about everythong, for a long time.

I pictured her in and old cottage with an apron on and baking cakes, bread and lovely Irish stew in a Cauldron hanging over a wood fire— she said she lives in a modern bungalow with Central heating and a cooker. What a disappointment Ca.

Anyway it was really good to talk to her and it boosted me up the rest of the day I didn’t want to put the phone down.

She will come to Seasalter and we will visit her in Ireland next year, 2010, so I look forward to that and we can start Planning a trip to Ireland.

We had a Ham salad and jacket potato for dinner and I watched the soaps while Ray worked on his Web sites. He is running 5 web sites so it keeps him busy in the Den and helps him to focus, so he hasnt time to worry about the future.

I think we are coping very well between us and the Chemo seems to give us a future. It doesn’t matter how long  just so long as it is filled with Quality.

I then answered all my emails and that was it for another day took all my tablets and went to bed in a good mood.

I will get out today as I’m recovering a lot sooner this time around they do say its going to get colder so I will wrap up but Louis will love a longer walk too.

PS

For those of us that have been through chemotherapy sickness (that chemo illness that feels like it is trying to rip you apart!), avoiding it, or at least lessening it, is something that we would do just about anything for.  But is there really any way to avoid chemo sickness? Is it possible to stop the nausea created by the chemotherapy cancer treatment?

Your doctor should automatically give you anti-sickness injections and tablets with chemotherapy, if you are likely to need them.  They work well for most people, but not everyone. Even the folks that they help, they don’t usually alleviate all of the cancer nausea. If sickness is a side effect of your treatment, it usually starts from a few minutes to several hours after you have the drugs.  Exactly when it happens depends on the drugs you are having.  It may last for a few hours.  Sometimes you may feel sick the next day too.

    Hi Mavis and Ray,
Oh my God you put me on your blog title. That is a first for me. Hope today is good and that you are starting to feel the tunaround. I would hate the sickness bit, it must be the worst.
I had a good day, did my writing in the morning and passed the half way mark, only have to write the same number again!! Went for a walk at lunchtime in lovely bright sunshine. I was walking in one of the lovely lanes about a mile away, and I was so surprised to see little blue vinca flowers in full bloom in the ditch. I assiciate them with springtime. Confused nature? Am looking forward to going to bed tonight because I have clean sheets. The little pleasures that mean so much. (I change them every week btw but I am always just as pleased every time)
Have a good day tomorrow, we are being forecast awful rain, so I hope that it won’t be here too early and that I can get out. Sleep well pet.
    Ca xx

My picture of you was so wrong he!he!
There are so many flowers out as my Maigolds, Perrywinkle, Michalmas Daisies are blooming again and my Spring flowers have all raised their leaves.
We have a Hedgehog in the compost bin that keeps coming out and the dog is sitting looking for it for hours.
The blackbird is flying around the garden from the nest in the tree where the Harvest Mouse lives.
We love clean sheets so know just what you mean.
I love the fresh smell on clothes from the wash as well.
Well i have taken my tablets so its off to bed now.

It’s funny, Ca – we both like clean sheets too.

Mavis – it sounds like you had a good day, despite the nausea. I also wonder why they can’t seem to control it completely. You would think they could give you something or tell you to eat certain things which will help.

We did a walk around Brightlingsea today. It was a lovely walk, first along the river on top of the sea wall, and then across country and back to B’sea. Probably about 5 miles in all. Bad Tess explored the muddy parts of the river bank, and was absolutely filthy, and the car smelt like clogged up fish pond pumps – all earthy and weedy. Needless to say, she got a shower when she got home.

Glad you’re still managing to get out, and enjoy the lovely weather, when we have it.

    Thinking of you, as always.
